STARCO Tusker

We often take our beasts of burden for granted. They must be resilient, enduring and physically strong. Over the centuries we have relied on mules, pack-horses and elephants.

In more recent years, we have come to rely on mechanical devices such as fork lift trucks. So when STARCO developed its superb new range of fork lift solid tyres it seemed fitting to name it after the greatest of all the beasts of burden, The Bull Elephant or TUSKER.

Resilience, Endurance and Physical strength are just three attributes needed for fork lift tyres. Grip, steering precision and low wear characteristics are also needed.

To ensure maximum operator efficiency the tyres need to instil confidence and give a comfortable ride.

STARCO’s engineers took all of these attributes into account when they designed the Tusker using the latest computer aided design techniques.

To achieve all these attributes, STARCO uses a triple layer design. 

1. Outer layer (tread layer)

To reduce tyre stress and enhance steering precision we used a central tread band with a high net to gross ratio.

This unique tread design combined with high quality natural rubber compounds helps to reduce chunking and chipping, increase the tear resistance and give a low wear tyre with precision steering response.

2. Intermediate layer (resilient layer)

This layer is critical for operator comfort and to reduce the heat build up in the tyre.

STARCO’s engineers used a low hysteresis compound with optimal elasticity for excellent shock absorption. The compound is also designed to ensure low heat build up for longer life under stress.

3. Inner layer (bead layer)

The inner layer uses very tough natural rubber compounds with integral steel bands to give a consistent, tight fit on the rim and provide high torques without tyre/rim slip.

The tyre also has integral bead ring protectors and fabric reinforcement to protect the bead and sidewall areas.

The three layers work together to produce the superb new Tusker range optimised to give high performance, low wear characteristics.

The Tusker is available in a wide range of sizes suitable for both split rims and easy fit applications and all the tyres are available in either standard black or non marking compounds.
